Violet Cottage is on the main street in Embleton. It's a terraced cottage, right in the middle of the row. The walls are thick so it's quiet inside.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It means it's comfortable and well looked after. The stairs are steep, like most cottages round here.
You can walk to the beach from the door. It's a proper mile, maybe a bit less. Embleton Bay is all sand and dunes. There's a shop and a pub a few minutes walk away. The pub does meals.
If you want to see the big castle, Dunstanburgh Castle is just along the coast. You can walk to it from the beach. Craster is the next village along, where they smoke the kippers.
Alnwick is about a fifteen minute drive. That's where the big castle and the garden are. Alnwick Garden is good if you've got kids. Seahouses is ten minutes the other way. That's where you get the boat to the Farne Islands to see the puffins.
For the facilities: there's parking for one car right outside. The back garden is enclosed, it's got a patio and a bit of lawn. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
If you're planning your trip, the Northumberland National Park site and the Northumberland Coast AONB pages are useful.
