The Barn

The Barn is a cottage in Longhoughton, Northumberland. It's on one level, no stairs. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, so it sleeps four. It's detached and you get your own bit of garden. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's well finished and everything is new and works properly.

It's built from the local stone. The main room is open plan. There's underfloor heating, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and parking right outside. We've put in an electric vehicle charger too. You can use the bikes stored there if you want. The wifi is decent.

You're about four miles from Alnwick. It's a proper market town with shops, pubs, and a cinema. Alnwick Castle is there. It's the Duke of Northumberland's place and they used it for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. The Alnwick Garden is worth a visit, it's quite something. They've got a big treehouse restaurant.

The coast is very close. You can be at a beach like Sugar Sands in a few minutes. It's a good spot for a walk. Dunstanburgh Castle is along the coast from there. Craster is famous for its kippers and is a short drive north. From there you can walk to Dunstanburgh Castle. Further up you've got Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island.

If you like walking, St Oswald's Way follows the coast. For golf, there are famous links courses nearby, like at Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh. The Cheviot Hills are inland if you want bigger walks.

Useful links for planning: Northumberland Coast AONB, English Heritage page for Dunstanburgh Castle, and Northumberland National Park.

No pets, I'm afraid. All bedding and towels are included.
