This is Snowshill in Alnwick. It's a bungalow, so everything's on one level. We built it a while ago, and it's a good, solid place.
It sleeps five, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower over the bath. It has a 4 Star rating from the tourist board, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The main thing is it's easy to get around inside. The doorways are wide and there are no steps.
There's a proper open fire in the living room. The kitchen is decent sized with a big table. The garden is enclosed and private, with a patio and some lawn. You can bring one dog.
You're about two miles outside Alnwick town itself. There's a shop, pubs, and places to eat there. The beach at Alnmouth is about ten minutes by car. It's a good, sandy beach for a walk.
If you drive north up the coast for half an hour, you get to places like Craster, which is famous for its kippers. Dunstanburgh Castle is out that way too, and there's some great walking along the coast path.
Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Garden are the big attractions locally. The castle is the Duke of Northumberland's place. The Garden has that big treehouse restaurant. Barter Books in the old train station is worth a look if you like books.
For a longer day out, you can get into the Northumberland National Park or up to Bamburgh Castle in under an hour.
It has the things you'd expect: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Parking for a couple of cars right outside. Bedding and towels are included.
Some links for planning: Northumberland National Park, Northumberland Coast AONB, and English Heritage for the castles.
