Chesterhill Old Farm

Chesterhill Old Farm is a barn conversion just outside Swarland. It's on its own, so it's quiet and the views are good. You look out over fields towards Warkworth Castle.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both doubles, and two bathrooms. One of them is en-suite. It's a 4 Star place, so it's well looked after. It feels modern inside but the original beams are still there. There's underfloor heating and a wood burner for cooler nights.

The living area is all open plan. Well equipped kitchen, dining table, sofas. Doors lead out to an enclosed patio garden – it's secure for a dog or kids. There's a BBQ out there. You can see some chickens and goats in a neighbouring field from the main window.

There's a local pub about a mile away in the village. A good 18-hole golf course is about the same distance.

You're just off the A1, so it's easy to get to places. Alnwick is about 15 minutes away. That's where Alnwick Castle and the famous gardens are. The coast at Alnmouth is about 20 minutes. Warkworth Castle and the beach at Amble are roughly 25 minutes' drive.

Further afield, you can get to Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, or Newcastle in under an hour if you want a day out.

Facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Cot and highchair available. Parking for two cars. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

Useful links: Northumberland National Park and National Trust North East. Those sites are good for planning walks and visits.
