Wren Cottage
Wren Cottage is at High Weldon in Northumberland. It’s a stone cottage, converted from an old farm building. It sleeps two people, one bedroom and one bathroom, all on the ground floor.
The place was fully refurbished a couple of years ago. It's clean and comfortable. The living room and kitchen have these nice arched windows looking out over the garden.
The main thing is the river. You have private access to the River Coquet from the grounds. You can walk down to the bank. Fishing for salmon and trout can be arranged for guests.
There’s a local pub about three quarters of a mile away that does food. The nearest shop is two miles. Morpeth is about nine miles south if you need supermarkets or more choice for eating out. The coast is about twelve miles away.
You get a welcome pack with eggs, scones, milk, and things like that. Dogs are welcome, one is allowed. They get treats too. There’s a picnic set you can use.
Facilities include a washing machine, WiFi, TV, parking, and a garden with a patio and BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
It’s part of a small group of cottages here. You can book it together with Robin, Owl, and Lapwing Cottage if you’ve got a bigger group.
For local information, these sites are useful: Northumberland National Park and Northumberland Coast AONB. The National Trust looks after a lot of the coast and castles nearby too, like Cragside and Dunstanburgh Castle, both within about half an hour's drive.
