Lapwing Cottage is in Weldon, Northumberland. It's a detached barn conversion we did up a few years ago. It looks out over fields and you can hear the river from there.
It sleeps three. There's one main bedroom with a huge super king bed. We can change that to two singles if you need. Then there's a single memory foam pull-out bed in the living area, which is fine for a child or an adult. It's all open plan downstairs. One bathroom with a shower.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's warm, clean and everything works. There's a washing machine, Wi-Fi, and your own small patio with a table. You can bring one dog. Bedding and towels are included.
The cottage is next to a bridle path. You can walk along it to the pub at Weldon Bridge, which is less than a mile. They do food. There are a couple of other pubs in the village too, about three quarters of a mile away.
You've got private access to the River Coquet if you want to fish. You'd need your own license.
Morpeth is about nine miles. It's a nice market town with shops and places to eat. Rothbury is closer, about six miles. That's where Cragside House and Gardens is, which is worth a trip. The coast, like Alnmouth or Warkworth, is about half an hour's drive. Alnwick Castle and gardens is about the same.
We live nearby if anything comes up. There are three other cottages here if you're coming as a bigger group.
For planning, the Northumberland National Park and Northumberland Coast sites are useful.
