The Sail Room is a studio apartment attached to the main house on the hill in St Mawes. It sleeps two. One room with a super king bed, a kitchenette, a small sofa, and a separate bathroom with a shower.
It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but don't expect anything luxury. There's a private garden area which gets the sun in the afternoon.
You need to know about the steps. The path down to the front door is a signed public footpath with steep stone steps. The access to the property itself is also via steps. It's not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
The kitchenette has a two-ring hob, a small oven, a microwave, and a fridge. It's fine for making breakfast or a simple meal. There are good places to eat in the village if you don't fancy cooking.
It's a five minute walk down the hill to the harbour. The hill is steep, so the walk back up takes a bit longer. There's a shop, a couple of cafes, and several pubs down there. You can get the ferry over to Falmouth from the harbour, which is a nice way to travel.
St Mawes Castle is a ten minute walk along the front. It's an English Heritage site with good views back across the Fal. You can find information on English Heritage.
The nearest beach is Summers Beach, which is a small shingle cove by the castle. For a sandy beach, you'd drive to Porthcurnick, about ten minutes away.
You can bring one dog. There's on-site parking on the drive.
For walking routes and other local information, the Cornwall National Landscape site is useful.
