Tavern House

Tavern House is on the seafront in St Mawes. It's the one that gives the beach its name, Tavern Beach. The views are straight out over the bay to St Anthony's Head.

It's an old house, probably 16th century. They say it was built as an inn for the castle. It sleeps eight people in five bedrooms, and there are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The living room and dining room both have French doors that open onto the front garden. You can sit out there with a coffee and watch the boats. The kitchen has what you need: electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer. There's a utility room with a washer and dryer.

A couple of things to know. The back garden is down some steep steps from the kitchen. It's got a bit of grass and a terrace, but it's not great for little kids unless you're watching them. Also, we don't allow pets, but the house has had dogs in it in the past, so be aware if you have allergies.

You're right on the water. The beach is just down from the house. St Mawes Castle is a short walk away, and the harbour with shops and pubs is also walking distance. The ferry across to Falmouth leaves from the harbour. It's a good way to get around without moving the car.

For parking, you use the village car park. It's not far.

If you're looking for things to do, the whole Roseland peninsula is good for walking. The National Trust has a few properties nearby, like Trelissick Garden. For local information, Visit Cornwall is useful.
