Bellas Mouse

Bellas Mouse is in Penryn, right in the old part of town. It's a proper old Cornish cottage, not new at all. It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms, and there are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The main thing to know is that it's really two places in one. There's the main cottage, and then a self-contained annexe with its own kitchen and bathroom. It works well for families or groups who want to be together but also have a bit of their own space.

It's full of character, which means it has quirks. The walls are thick and curvy. Some of the door frames are low, so you'll need to watch your head. There are small steps between some of the downstairs rooms. The stairs to the bedrooms are quite steep and open, and there's no handrail. The garden is terraced with steps too. If you have mobility issues or very young children, it's something to think about.

You get a private courtyard at the back, which is nice. The garden has views over the water towards Falmouth. It feels secluded.

Parking is in a garage up the lane. It's a typical Cornish lane, steep and narrow. You can fit one car in front of the garage doors as well. The garage is good for storing bikes or washing down wetsuits. For unloading, you can pull down to the cottage gate. The train station is a few minutes walk away, which is handy.

Penryn itself has a few pubs and places to eat, including a decent fish and chip shop. Falmouth is about a mile away, so you can walk, get the train, or drive in easily. From there, you've got the whole Fal estuary to explore.

For facilities, you've got the basics covered: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. There's a woodburner for cooler evenings. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. There's a cot and a stairgate available.

If you're planning days out, the National Trust Cornwall page is useful. The Cornwall Council coastal access site has good information on the South West Coast Path.
