Black Thorn Cottage

Black Thorn Cottage is a single-storey barn conversion just outside Falmouth. It sleeps five, in two bedrooms, and has two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The ceilings are high and there are skylights, so it feels quite bright and airy.

It's all on one level, which is handy. The floors are solid wood. You get the enclosed garden to yourselves, and there's parking right by the cottage.

It's a quiet spot, about two miles from the nearest shop and pub. A good restaurant is about a mile away.

Falmouth town centre and the harbour are only a few minutes' drive. It's a proper working port, you see all sorts of boats in there. The town has plenty of places to eat and the National Maritime Museum is on Events Square. They do a big Sea Shanty festival there.

For beaches, you've got a few close by. Gyllyngvase is the main sandy one in Falmouth itself. Swanpool and Maenporth are lovely coves a bit further around. You can get onto the coastal path from there.

You can get a water taxi over to St Mawes, or go up the Helford River on a boat trip. There are sea safaris from the port if you want to look for wildlife.

Some good local days out are the gardens at Trebah or Glendurgan, or Pendennis Castle. Further afield, the Lizard peninsula is about half an hour south, and the north coast surf beaches are about forty minutes' drive.

Inside, it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
