The White House

The White House is in St Mawes. It's a big house from the 1920s, one of the first built up on that side of the village. It sleeps nine people, has five bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The main thing is the view. You look right out over the village and the harbour towards Falmouth. You can see Pendennis Castle across the water. There's a balcony off one of the bedrooms to sit out and look at it. The gardens are big and established, so you get privacy. They're fully enclosed, which is good for dogs. We take up to two.

Summers Beach is basically at the bottom of the garden, maybe fifty metres away. It's a small, sandy cove. For getting on the water, it's about a five minute walk to the sailing club quay or the boatyards if you have a dinghy.

St Mawes itself has shops, pubs, and restaurants around the harbour. You can get the ferry over to Falmouth from there, or up the river to places like Trelissick. It's busy in summer and very quiet in winter.

Inside, the house has high ceilings and wide corridors. Some of the original mahogany woodwork is still there. The bathrooms are old fashioned, the tiled kind. They work fine.

For facilities, you've got the essentials: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on the drive for a couple of cars and an electric vehicle charger. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.

If you're planning trips, the National Trust Cornwall page is useful, and so is Visit Cornwall. The St Mawes Castle is English Heritage, just down the hill.
