Sail Loft (Hill Head)

Sail Loft is in the middle of St Mawes. It's a loft conversion, so it's up high. The front door is at street level, but the main living space is on the first floor. You're about 150 yards from the beach.

It sleeps four. Two twin bedrooms, both look straight out to sea. There are two bathrooms, both with showers. It's got a 3 Star rating. Everything works, it's clean and bright, but it's not luxury.

Because it's a conversion, the layout is a bit different. You come in the front door to a small hallway with a shower room and the kitchen. Then you go up internal stairs to the main living area and the bedrooms. The utility room with the washing machine is outside, you get to it via a path around the back.

The best bit is the patio. It's big, paved, and gets the sun. You look out over the rooftops towards the sea. There's a table and chairs out there.

You can park on site at the front. There's also space round the back to store bikes or a kayak.

St Mawes itself is small. You can walk to everything: the harbour, the castle, the shops, the ferry over to Falmouth. The passenger ferry runs regularly. For a bigger beach, you'd drive. Pendennis Point in Falmouth is about 25 minutes by car and ferry. The National Trust's Trelissick Garden is a 20 minute drive up the river, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are about 30 minutes away.

Inside, it has WiFi, a TV, a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. No pets.
