Hideaway
This is called Hideaway. It's in St Mawes, Cornwall. It's on the ground floor of our house, but it's got its own entrance and it's entirely separate from us up top.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom attached. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is nice. It's comfortable.
The main thing is the view. You come in from the drive and the whole place looks straight out over the bay. The living room has big sliding doors onto the terrace. The main bedroom has them too, so you can see the water from bed. The twin room also has a good view. It's a quiet spot about four minutes' walk from the harbour and the pubs, but it feels very separate up here.
There are 14 steps down from the drive to get to the apartment door. They have a handrail. At the top of these steps, by our garage, there's a utility room you can use. It has a washing machine, tumble dryer, and a large shower. That's useful for washing off sand when you come back from the beach.
The beach is about a third of a mile away. St Mawes itself is all there on your doorstep: the castle, the ferries over to Falmouth. For a bigger day out, the Trelissick Garden is about half an hour's drive, or you can get the ferry across and go to Glendurgan. The Visit Cornwall site has more ideas.
Facilities: there's parking on the drive, a cot and highchair if you need them, bedding and towels are included, WiFi, TV, dishwasher. No pets, sorry. The entrance is level from the drive to the utility room, but the apartment itself is down those steps.
