Little Hill

Little Hill is in St Mawes. It’s a cottage, about two hundred years old. It’s semi-detached. The main thing is the view, which is a proper elevated view out to sea.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. The main bedroom is a double with that sea view. The other has a zip-and-link bed so you can have a king or two twins. There are two toilets and two bathrooms, both are down in the basement. The ceilings down there are quite low, you’ll need to mind your head. The main bathroom has a shower over the bath, and there’s a separate shower room.

The place is on three floors. The stairs inside are steep and cottagey, as you’d expect. You access it across a paved patio which gets the sun.

You’re a few minutes’ walk from the middle of St Mawes, but it’s down a steep path with steps. Something to know if you’ve got bad knees or a lot of shopping. There’s a pub nearby. You have your own private parking, which is a bonus here.

For facilities, it’s got what you need: WiFi, TV, a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer downstairs. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog.

From the village, you can get the foot ferry over to Place, or all the way to Falmouth. The ferry to Truro is a nice way to travel. If you’re driving, the Roseland Peninsula is good for walking, and you’re not far from the National Trust at Trelissick. The Cornwall National Landscape site has ideas for days out.

It’s a 3 Star place. It’s clean and comfortable, with character, not a modern show home.
