New Quay House

New Quay House is in Flushing, right on the point looking out over Falmouth Harbour. It's a big, old house. It feels like a place people actually live, not a show home.

It sleeps seven. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms, which is handy. The layout is a bit unusual. The kitchen and dining room are on the ground floor. The main living room is upstairs on the first floor. All the bedrooms are up another floor on the second floor. The stairs are fine, just normal house stairs.

You get the whole place to yourselves. There's a patio area outside. Parking is on site. Bedding and towels are included, and there's a washing machine.

The view from the front is the main thing. You're looking straight out at the harbour, the boats coming and going. Flushing itself is quiet. There are two pubs and a fish restaurant on the quay. For a beach, you'd drive to somewhere like Kiln, which is about five miles.

Falmouth is just across the water. You can get the passenger ferry from the quay, which takes a few minutes, or drive round which is about three miles. That's where you'll find more shops, restaurants, and the National Maritime Museum.

If you want to explore, the Lizard peninsula is about a 30 minute drive. Truro is roughly 25 minutes away. For a good day out walking, the coast path is easily accessible. The National Trust Cornwall site has lots of ideas for places to visit.

No pets, sorry. The rating is 4 Star, which reflects that it's comfortable and well-equipped, but in an old, characterful way.
