Puffin
This is the Puffin. It’s an apartment in Portscatho, Cornwall. It’s called the Puffin because it’s right by the water. You’re basically on the beach.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One has a double bed, the other has twins. There are two bathrooms, both with showers. One is an ensuite off the main bedroom. It’s small, but it’s there.
The living room looks straight out over the harbour and Gerrans Bay. You can see Gull Rock and Rame Head on a clear day. There are patio doors to a balcony. The view is the main thing.
It’s got a 3 Star rating. It’s clean, it works, it’s not luxurious. The kitchen has what you need: an oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. WiFi is there. TV too.
You step outside and Tatums Beach is a few yards away. The South West Coast Path is about twenty yards from the front door. If you want a bigger sandy beach, Porthcurnick is a ten-minute walk along that path.
Portscatho is a small fishing village. There’s a shop, a post office, a couple of galleries. The Plume of Feathers pub is in the middle of the village, two minutes walk. They do food. The Standard Inn in Gerrans is about eight minutes up the hill.
For food, Tatum’s coffee bar is next door. Tide and Thyme, next to that, does good lunches and pizzas in the evening. The Hidden Hut on Porthcurnick Beach is a ten-minute coastal walk. They do lunches and you can book their evening feasts.
If you want to drive, St Mawes is about fifteen minutes away. The ferry from there goes to Falmouth. The National Trust’s Trebah Garden is about forty minutes drive. The Trelissick estate is a bit closer.
No pets, sorry. There’s parking for one car onsite.
