Polcreek Cottage

Polcreek Cottage is our place in Carne, Cornwall. It's at the end of a quiet lane, surrounded by National Trust farmland. The view from the front is over a meadow, sometimes with cows or sheep, and you can see the coast path and the sea from there.

It sleeps six people. There are three bedrooms upstairs, all with a sea view. Two of them connect, which works well if you've got kids. One is a double, one's a twin, and one is a single with a pull-out bed. There's a family bathroom upstairs with a shower over the bath. Downstairs, just outside the back door, there's a separate shower room and toilet. That one's useful for coming in from the beach.

Downstairs, there's a living room with an open fire and a separate dining room with another fire and a window seat. The kitchen has an oil Aga and an electric cooker as well. It's a proper farmhouse kitchen.

The garden is big and wraps around the house. It's mostly lawn with flowers and shrubs. It backs right onto the farmland. You can get onto the coast path from the cottage in about five minutes on foot.

You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. There's WiFi and a TV, and a washing machine and dishwasher.

It's a 3 Star place. That means it's comfortable and clean, but not a show home. It's a family cottage.

For things to do, the Roseland peninsula is right there. You're close to places like Portscatho and St Mawes. The National Trust Cornwall page is good for ideas. For walking, the South West Coast Path site has all the maps. Truro is about half an hour away by car if you need a city or a big supermarket.
