Polcreek Cottage is on a farm near Carne. It's a proper old farmhouse, so it’s a bit rambling. It’s quiet here. You don't hear much.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 3 Star, so it's comfortable and clean. Everything works, but you can see it's been lived in.
You come in the front door and the living room is on the right. It's got an open fire. The dining room is on the left, and it's big enough for everyone, with another fire and a window seat. Through the back is the kitchen. It's got an Aga and an electric cooker. The Aga heats the hot water too.
All three bedrooms look out to the sea. There's a double, a single that turns into a twin, and then another twin room. There’s a family bathroom upstairs with a shower over the bath. Downstairs, out the back door, there’s another shower and toilet. That’s useful if you’ve been to the beach.
The garden wraps around the house. It’s got flowers and shrubs and big lawns for kids to run about. It backs right onto farm fields. You can let the dogs out there if they’re under control. We take two dogs.
You can walk to the coastal path from here. It’s about ten minutes. Veryan Bay is the nearest bit of sand and it’s not far by car. The Roseland is good for sailing.
St Mawes is about fifteen minutes drive. You can get the ferry to Falmouth from there. Truro is half an hour for shopping. The National Trust at Trelissick is worth a trip, or Glendurgan if you’ve got children.
Facilities are all there: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, cot, highchair, stairgate. Parking for a couple of cars. Bedding and towels are included.
