Grain Store 1

Grain Store 1 is in East Portholland, on the Roseland Peninsula. It's a single-storey barn conversion, so everything's on the ground floor. There are two of these barns next to each other, but you've got your own garden.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, and each one has its own bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's well done, not just basic. Because it's all on one level and there are no streetlights around, it's very dark and quiet at night. You can see a lot of stars.

The garden faces south and gets the sun. There's a little den with a day bed in it if you want to nap outside. Inside, it's set up to be comfortable. There's a wood burner for winter, and it stays cool in summer. There's a big TV with a lot of DVDs, and some board games.

You can bring two dogs. There's parking right outside.

It's a short walk down the lane to Portholland beach. It's a cove, really. Good for a paddle. For a bigger sandy beach, you'd drive a little way. The South West Coast Path is right there for walking.

There are a couple of dog-friendly pubs within a few miles, in St Ewe and Tregony. The nearest shop is about four miles away in Probus, so you'll want to bring your food with you.

If you're planning days out, the National Trust Cornwall page is useful for local houses and coast. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are about a twenty-minute drive. The Eden Project is about half an hour. Caerhays Castle and its gardens are very close.

For a change of scene, the north coast around Padstow or Newquay is about forty-five minutes by car.
