Bluebell

Bluebell is a one-bedroom cottage converted from part of an old country hotel. It's all on one floor, which is good if you don't want stairs. It's in the grounds of our house, so it's quiet and private.

It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. The main thing is the roof terrace off the living room. You sit up there with your coffee and look out over the fields. It's a good spot.

Polmassick is a hamlet, so it's very peaceful. The local pub is about a 15 minute walk away. For shops you'll need to drive a couple of miles to the village.

The coast is about four miles away. Mevagissey harbour is a short drive and it's the proper old fishing village sort of place. For a good beach, Porthluney Cove by Caerhays Castle is lovely. The National Trust looks after a lot of the coastline round here for walking.

If you want a big day out, The Lost Gardens of Heligan or the Eden Project are within half an hour's drive. Charlestown, which is the port with the tall ships, is about 20 minutes away. For surfing, you'd be heading north towards Newquay, which is more like 40 minutes.

Inside it's open plan. There's a kitchen area, a sofa, and the bedroom leads off from it. The bathroom is ensuite. It's all fairly compact, fine for two people. We've put in an electric vehicle charger. There's parking right outside. You can bring one dog.

Mostly it's just a quiet place to come back to after being out. Useful link for planning: Visit Cornwall.
