Treburthick House

Treburthick House is up at Higher Porthpean, just outside St Austell. It's that big, white detached one on the left as you come up the hill. It's on its own in about an acre of garden, so you've got plenty of space.

It sleeps fifteen, which is a lot. There are eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms, so no one should be queueing in the morning. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's a big house, so it feels quite spacious inside.

The main thing is the view. From the front, you look right down over St Austell Bay. You can see the sea from most of the rooms. The track down to Porthpean beach starts just past the house. It's about a five-minute walk. It's a small, sheltered sandy cove. Good for a swim or a paddle. You can hire kayaks there.

The local pub is about three-quarters of a mile away, down the lane towards the beach. It does food. There's a golf course a short walk in the other direction, with views over the bay.

If you want to explore, Mevagissey is a ten-minute drive. It's a proper old fishing harbour. You can get a ferry from there over to Fowey. Fowey is lovely for a wander and some lunch by the estuary.

The two big attractions nearby are the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Both are within a twenty-minute drive and are worth a visit. The National Trust has a lot of properties and gardens around here too, if that's your sort of thing.

For facilities, it's got the basics covered: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. There's parking for several cars. The garden is enclosed, with a patio and a BBQ. There’s also a games room. We accept up to two dogs.
