Millys Nook is our cottage near St Austell. It's semi-detached next to our house down a quiet lane, but you get it all to yourselves.
It sleeps three. Two bedrooms upstairs, one double and one single, and one bathroom. It’s a 3 Star place, so it’s good, clean and comfortable but not oversized or flashy.
The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a small enclosed garden out the back, which is sunny in the afternoons. You can park right outside.
You're about five minutes in the car from Porthpean beach. It’s a shingle beach with good cliffs. Other beaches like Carlyon Bay and Pentewan are a short drive.
The big thing here is the Eden Project. It’s about ten minutes away. The biomes are impressive, and they do concerts there in the summer. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are also close, maybe a fifteen-minute drive. They’re massive and really interesting if you like gardens.
Charlestown harbour is worth a look. It’s an old port with tall ships, and it’s been used in a lot of films. St Austell town has shops, a cinema, and a swimming pool if you need it. There’s a pub about half a mile walk.
You can drive to Fowey or Mevagissey in under half an hour. Fowey is a nice port town on the river, and Mevagissey is a proper old fishing harbour with narrow streets. Further out, places like Truro, Padstow, or St Ives are all within an hour.
