Gwel An Porth is in Charlestown, just up from the harbour. It's one of a small row of cottages. Ours is yours for the week, with its own little garden out the front.
The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a Grade II listed place, which means it's full of character but the walls are thick and the stairs are typical old cottage stairs. They're fine, just mind your head.
Charlestown itself is a proper working harbour. It looks like it's stepped out of a film, because it often has. You can walk down to see the tall ships and there's a pub and a couple of places to eat right there. The coastal path runs past it.
The facilities are straightforward: there's a woodburner for cooler evenings, a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them. Sorry, no pets.
For a sandy beach, Carlyon Bay is about a mile's walk. St Austell is three miles away for bigger shops.
A couple of good days out are very close. The Eden Project is about four miles away. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are five miles. Mevagissey, which is another fishing port, is six miles along the coast.
If you're planning walks, the South West Coast Path website is very useful.
