The Old Sweetshop

The Old Sweetshop is in St Blazey, near St Austell. It used to be a sweetshop a long time ago. It's a terraced cottage.

It sleeps two people, but there are two bedrooms. One has a double bed, the other has full-sized bunk beds. The stairs are quite steep and narrow. The bathroom has an electric shower.

The kitchen is bigger than you'd think from the outside. There's a dishwasher. The living room is small but comfortable, with a sofa, chair, and TV. The electric stove looks like a wood burner.

Out the back is a small, private garden on different levels. There are tables and chairs. You can't park right outside, but there's a car park a short walk away. There's a small supermarket about three minutes' walk from the door.

You're about two miles from the nearest beach. Charlestown, with the Shipwreck Museum, is three miles away. The Eden Project is very close. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are nearby too.

If you drive along the coast east, you'll get to Looe and Polperro in about half an hour. They're old fishing ports with narrow streets.

The cottage is rated 4 Star. It's clean and well-equipped. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. The garden is enclosed.

For planning days out, these sites are useful: National Trust Cornwall, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, and The Eden Project.
