Chyandour is an old house in Fowey. It was built where the grammar school used to be. There’s a bit of a walk down into the main part of town, but it’s not far. You get views over the estuary and out towards Polruan from the house.
It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It’s a 4 Star place, which means it’s well looked after and comfortable. Because it’s built on a hill, the house is over four floors. There are stairs. The beds are made up for you when you arrive.
There are three little balconies. They’re good for a cup of tea in the morning. You get a patio area too. The facilities are what you’d expect: WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, a dishwasher. Parking is on site.
Fowey itself is down the hill. It’s a proper old fishing town, so the streets are narrow. There are places to eat, shops, and you can get boat trips on the river. The
South West Coast Path goes right through. If you want a different beach, Polkerris or Readymoney Cove are close by.
For a day out, you can get the ferry across to Polruan and walk to Lantic Bay. The
National Trust has a few big houses and gardens nearby, like Lanhydrock, which is about twenty minutes by car. The Eden Project is under half an hour’s drive.
