Sowenna is in Mevagissey. It's one of four apartments next to our house. The reason we built them here is the view, which is honestly the best thing about them. You can see right over the harbour and all around the bay.
It’s a one-bedroom place for two people. It’s got a 4 Star rating. Everything’s on the ground floor, which is handy. It's open-plan. There’s a shower room, and the bed is in a separate room.
You get your own little patio with a table and chairs out front to sit and look at the view. More importantly, you get your own parking space. That’s a big deal in Mevagissey, where parking can be a real hassle.
The apartment is about a mile’s walk from the harbour. It’s downhill to get there, uphill to come back. The harbour is proper old, from the 1770s. It’s still a working fishing port. There are shops, places to eat, and a couple of good pubs down there.
If you like walking, the South West Coast Path goes right from the harbour to Pentewan one way and Portmellon the other. Portmellon has a beach that’s accessible when the tide’s out. For a bigger beach, you’d drive to Pentewan or Porthpean.
Within about half an hour you’ve got The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. Charlestown harbour, which you might recognise from films, is a short drive away. If you fancy a round of golf, there’s a course nearby.
What’s here: there’s a TV, WiFi, a shower, and all your bedding and towels are included. The parking is on site. There’s no garden as such, but there are some shared landscaped grounds with paths and a fishpond. Sorry, no pets.
