Babblebrook Cottage

Babblebrook Cottage is in Tregavarras. It's a small hamlet, very quiet. The cottage is old, it's grade II listed. It was a gamekeeper's cottage for the Caerhays Estate, which is just down the road.

It sleeps five. There are three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean, not a luxury place. The garden is big and mature, with trees and shrubs. There's a stream at the bottom of it, you can hear it from the house. That's where the name comes from. You sometimes see pheasants walking through the garden.

Inside, there's a living room with a wood burner, a separate dining room, and the kitchen. The stairs are typical for a cottage, so they're a bit steep and narrow.

Porthluney Beach is the closest one, about a quarter of a mile down the hill. It's a good family beach. The surf isn't reliable but it's a nice spot. The coastal path is easily accessible from here for walks.

The Caerhays Estate gardens are nearby and worth a visit, especially in spring. You're on the Roseland peninsula. Mevagissey and Gorran Haven are to the east, about 20 minutes drive. St Mawes and Portscatho are to the west, similar distance. It's a good base for exploring that whole coast.

For facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and bedding is included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.

If you're planning trips, the National Trust Cornwall page is useful, and so is the Cornwall Council beaches guide.
