Dolphins Reach
Dolphins Reach is in St Mawes, down on the Roseland Peninsula. It’s a fairly new build, so it’s spacious and light inside. It’s over three floors, so the stairs are modern, not steep cottage ones, but it’s still not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
It sleeps six in four bedrooms, with two bathrooms. You can bring one well-behaved dog. It has a 5 Star rating, which means it’s well-equipped and finished to a high standard.
The downstairs is all open plan. The big folding doors open onto a sun terrace. That’s the best bit. The view is straight out over the sea. You can sit there and watch the ferries from Falmouth coming and going.
There’s another deck up on the top floor, which gets the sun later.
It has its own parking spot, which is a real bonus in St Mawes. You can leave the car and walk everywhere. The beach and the village centre are a few minutes downhill.
St Mawes has a few shops, some good cafés and several nice places to eat. The castle is a short walk along the front. It’s an English Heritage site.
You can get the ferry over to Falmouth. That takes about 20 minutes. Falmouth has the Maritime Museum and Pendennis Castle, which is another English Heritage property. The coastline here is part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
There are some famous gardens nearby if that’s your thing, like the ones at Caerhays.
For facilities, it has pretty much everything: a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot, highchair and stairgate if you need them.
