Dovecote House

Dovecote House is a big old cottage at Killerby Old Hall. It sleeps 14 people in seven bedrooms with three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.

The building is part of a courtyard with other cottages. The owners live on site. You get your own enclosed garden area with patio furniture.

Inside, it's open plan in places. The stairs are typical for an old building, so they're a bit uneven. There's a walk-in shower and the entrance is wheelchair accessible. It has all the things you'd expect, like a dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included.

There's a shared indoor heated swimming pool on site that you can use.

The village of Cayton is about a five-minute walk away. It has a shop, a post office, and two pubs. The coast at Cayton Bay is under two miles away. It's a good beach for walking and swimming.

Scarborough is about four miles north. You've got all the shops there, and the two bays. Filey is a few miles south and has a nice promenade. For walking, the Cleveland Way coastal path runs right past Flamborough Head, which is about half an hour's drive. The RSPB Bempton Cliffs are there too.

Inland, you can get to the North York Moors. The steam train at Pickering is about a 40-minute drive. Dalby Forest is good for mountain biking and walking. Castle Howard is about an hour's drive. York is also roughly an hour away on the A64.

There's on-site parking. No pets, I'm afraid.
