Apple Tree House

You're about five minutes' walk from the North Bay beach. It's sand, and it's usually a bit quieter than the South Bay. The local shop is a couple of minutes away. The nearest pub and a few places to eat are about the same.
Peasholm Park is just around the corner. It's a nice park with a lake. You can hire boats in the summer. The open air theatre is next to it. The Alpamare waterpark is a ten minute walk away if that's your sort of thing.
For a day out, Whitby is about a 40 minute drive up the coast. Filey and Flamborough Head are to the south. The North York Moors aren't far if you want to get inland.
