This is Fortescue Cottage in Scalby. It's part of a bigger group of places called Scalby Lodge, up on the cliffs. They're owned by the Duchy of Lancaster. You can see that in the crests on the walls.
It's a bungalow, so everything's on one level. Two bedrooms, sleeps four. One bathroom with a walk-in shower. There are grab rails and a seat. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's very well finished. It feels new.
The main room is open plan. Kitchen and living area with a wood burning stove. Good WiFi and a TV. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Your own enclosed patio garden with a barbecue. Parking right outside.
It's a five minute drive into Scarborough, or you can walk it along the lane in maybe twenty-five. The town's got the two bays, North and South Beach. The castle is up on the headland. There's a theatre in the town and the Open Air Theatre on the cliff.
Scalby itself has a couple of pubs and a shop. The Cleveland Way path runs right past the estate, so you can walk straight onto it. Bempton Cliffs RSPB reserve is about half an hour north by car.
Whitby is thirty minutes up the coast. York is just over an hour south. The North York Moors Railway runs from Pickering and Whitby.
