This is Fortescue Cottage. It's one of fifteen cottages here at Scalby Lodge, up on the cliffs near Scarborough. The whole site is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster, so technically it belongs to the King. It's a bungalow, so everything's on one level.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. The bathroom has a walk-in shower with a seat and grab rails. It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's well finished and comfortable. It's open plan, so the living, dining, and kitchen area is all one space. There's a wood burning stove.
Outside, there's an enclosed garden patio for you. You can park right there. There's an electric vehicle charger if you need it. The facilities are all there: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. There's a cot and a highchair if you've got little ones.
The site has a kids' play area. There's a local pub a short walk away.
Location wise, you're in Scalby. It's a couple of miles from Scarborough itself. The coast path, the Cleveland Way, is right there on the cliffs for walking. Scarborough has the castle, two beaches, and the Open Air Theatre. The North York Moors National Park is on your doorstep.
Within half an hour you can drive up to Whitby. That's where the North York Moors Railway steam train runs from. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is about a 40 minute drive. York is just over an hour away.
