Vinca Cottage

Vinca Cottage is a semi-detached stone cottage in Burniston village. It's a quiet spot, but with a shop and two pubs on the same lane. The one directly opposite does food.

The cottage itself sleeps five. Three decent sized bedrooms, one bathroom. It was built in the early 1800s and has a lot of the original bits still in place, like the beams and the stonework. There's a big old inglenook fireplace in the main living room. Later on, they added the second sitting room, so there's a bit more space now if people want to spread out.

The garden at the back is fully enclosed. It's got a patio and some grass. Good for sitting out, safe for a dog.

It's a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean, comfortable and usable, but it's not a show home. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they turn a corner and are a bit steep. Just so you know.

Scarborough is about four miles down the road for the beach and everything else. The local bus stops nearby if you don't fancy driving. For walking, you can pick up the Cleveland Way footpath nearby. The old railway line, the Cinder Track, runs from Scarborough up to Whitby and is good for a flat walk or a bike ride.

Whitby is about a 25 minute drive north. Robin Hood's Bay is a bit closer. Dalby Forest is a 30 minute drive inland and has lots of cycling trails if that's your thing.

Facilities wise: there's a woodburning stove, WiFi, a washing machine, TV, and parking for one car on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

A couple of links if you're planning: North York Moors National Park for walking and events, and National Trust Yorkshire for local places like the coast at Ravenscar.
