The Barn

This is The Barn. It's part of a bigger group of cottages on the Scalby Lodge estate, which are owned by the King through the Duchy of Lancaster. It's a five-bedroom cottage that sleeps ten.

It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable. There are three bathrooms, which helps with that many people. It's a bungalow, so everything is on the ground floor. Good if stairs are a problem. The garden is enclosed. There's parking on site, and an electric vehicle charger.

Inside, it's got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair. You can bring one dog.

Location wise, it's on the edge of Scalby, which is just north of Scarborough. It's a clifftop spot. You can walk down to the coast from here. The nearest pub is in Scalby village, a few minutes away.

Scarborough is about ten minutes by car. You've got the two bays there, North and South Beach. The castle is up on the headland. The Open Air Theatre is on the South Bay. It's worth checking what's on.

For walking, the Cleveland Way path runs right past. To the north, you can get to the RSPB Bempton Cliffs. It's about twenty minutes drive. They have puffins and gannets on the cliffs. Further north, Whitby is half an hour away. You can get the steam train from there into the North York Moors.

The North York Moors National Park starts a few miles inland. York is just over an hour's drive south.
