Little Jack’s Cottage is in Scalby, which is on the edge of Scarborough. It's on the main road into the village, but set back a bit. There are stone steps up the front garden to the door, but you can get in level from the back if that’s easier.
It’s a two-up, two-down cottage. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. Sleeps four. It’s got a 4 Star rating. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they turn a corner and are a bit steep.
Inside, there’s a living room at the front with a wood burner. The kitchen is at the back. There’s a dining room in the middle with a second stove. Both stoves are multi-fuel, so you can use the provided smokeless fuel or wood if you bring your own. The garden has a heated summer house at the front and an enclosed yard at the back with a barbecue.
The village has a shop about 175 yards away. There’s a pub and a café practically over the road. The pub does food. The café is good.
Scarborough is about ten minutes drive. You’ve got the castle, two beaches, and Peasholm Park. The Cinder Track, which is the old railway line to Whitby, is good for walking or cycling. It starts in Scarborough and goes right past near the cottage. For a proper walk, you can pick up the Tabular Hills Walk here, which goes into the North York Moors.
Whitby is about 20 minutes drive the other way. Robin Hood’s Bay is a bit closer. Dalby Forest is about half an hour inland, if you want mountain biking or forest walks.
Facilities wise: there’s a washing machine, WiFi, and bedding and towels are included. There’s parking for one car on the drive. The property is suitable for up to two pets.
