The Bolt Hole

The Bolt Hole is a ground floor apartment in a big Victorian house on North Marine Road in Scarborough. It's on the sea front. You get the high ceilings and bay windows you'd expect from a place like this.

It sleeps four, but in one bedroom. There's a kingsize bed and a sofa bed in the living room. There's one en-suite shower room off the bedroom, plus a separate toilet by the kitchen. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and comfortable but not luxurious.

You come in through a shared main entrance hall, then into your own front door. The living room has a dining table and a sofa facing the TV. The kitchen is a galley style off the living area. It's got what you need, including a dishwasher.

Location is the main thing here. Both of Scarborough's beaches are less than ten minutes' walk away. The North Bay is quieter. The South Bay is the classic one with the pier, amusements, and lots of chip shops. Parts of both beaches allow dogs.

The castle is up on the headland, a short walk from here. The views from up there are very good. Alpamare, the water park, is also just down the road.

For walking, you can pick up the Cleveland Way coastal path. The old railway line, the Cinder Track, is good for cycling or walking without going on the road. The North York Moors National Park is about a 30 minute drive inland.

You can drive south to Filey, Flamborough Head, or Bridlington quite easily. The RSPB place at Bempton Cliffs is about 40 minutes away if you like seabirds. North up the coast, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are both within 45 minutes.

York is about an hour's drive. There's also a direct train from Scarborough station, which is a 15 minute walk from the apartment.

Facilities are all listed. Bedding and towels are included. WiFi is there. One well-behaved dog is welcome. There are local pubs nearby. Parking is on-street, which can be busy in season, but you can usually find a space within a short walk.
