Ravines is in Scarborough, a few minutes walk from the North Bay beach. It's actually two big houses joined together. You can book them separately, but most people book them as one for large groups. It sleeps twenty-four, twelve in each house. That way you're all together but you've got your own kitchens and living rooms.
There are twelve bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms. Each bedroom has a TV. The rating is 4 Star. It's comfortable and well-equipped. Outside, each house has its own enclosed courtyard with a hot tub.
The town centre is walkable. There's a shopping centre and lots of individual shops. For eating and drinking, there are plenty of bars and restaurants, and a casino if that's your thing. The local pub is about 400 yards away. Scarborough cricket ground is just around the corner. Oliver's Mount, where they have motorbike races, is a short drive.
On the walk down to the beach, you pass Peasholm Park. It's a lovely park with a lake, boats you can hire, and sometimes a brass band plays in the summer. They do a model boat battle on the lake which kids have enjoyed for decades.
Scarborough has two bays. The South Bay is the traditional one with amusements and donkeys. The North Bay is quieter. The castle is on the headland between them. You can walk the full length of the seafront on Marine Drive; it's flat and good for an evening stroll. At the far end of North Bay is the Sealife Centre and the open-air theatre, which gets big acts in.
Further down the coast you've got Filey, Flamborough Head, and Bridlington. The RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs is about half an hour's drive. You can see puffins there. Inland, the North York Moors National Park starts not far from town. Whitby is about 40 minutes north. York is roughly an hour's drive.
