The Lodge is one of six cottages around a courtyard here at Killerby Old Hall. We live on the site. It's a detached place, so no shared walls. Sleeps eight in four bedrooms, with two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The garden is enclosed, which is handy. There's a patio with furniture. You get the whole outside space to yourselves.
Inside, it's got what you'd need: a dishwasher, TV, WiFi, and all the bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if required. The swimming pool on site is heated and indoors, so it's usable whatever the weather. You can book slots for that.
The stairs are fine, but they're typical cottage stairs. Not a spiral, but they do turn a corner.
Location wise: it's about a mile and a half from the beach at Cayton Bay. The village of Cayton is a five-minute walk, maybe 500 yards. There's a shop and a couple of pubs there. Both pubs do food.
You're right between Filey and Scarborough. Filey's got a gentler vibe with a promenade. Scarborough is bigger, with the castle and two bays. The North York Moors Railway starts at Pickering, about a half-hour drive inland. Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are also within about 30 minutes. York is roughly an hour's drive if you fancy a day out.
For walks, you've got the Cleveland Way coast path right nearby. The RSPB centre at Bempton Cliffs is a short drive north. Dalby Forest is about twenty minutes away for cycling or walking.
There's parking right outside the cottage. Sorry, no pets.
