Low Hall Barn is in West Ayton, a village on the edge of the North York Moors. It’s a converted barn, so from the lane it looks quite plain and old. Inside it’s completely different. The owner spent years doing it up with reclaimed materials and interesting old furniture. It's full of character.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom or shower room. One has a super king bed, the other two have zip and link beds that can be either king-size or twins. There's a family bathroom with both a bath and a shower as well.
Downstairs is open plan: kitchen, dining and living area, with a wood burner. The kitchen is big and well-equipped. Doors open from the living area onto a small patio. Across a shared track there’s a private, enclosed paddock with garden furniture. It's a quiet spot, looking over fields.
The village has a shop, a garage, and a couple of pubs that do food. Thornton-le-Dale is very close, it's that chocolate box village with the stream and the bakery. Pickering is a few minutes away for the North York Moors Railway steam trains.
For walking, Dalby Forest is right there. It’s good for bike trails and there’s a Go Ape high wires course. The coast is about a 15-minute drive. Scarborough has the big beach. Whitby is great for a day out, all that history with the Abbey and the Captain Cook stuff. Robin Hood’s Bay is a bit further.
Facilities: it has pretty much everything. WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, wood burner, bedding and towels are included. There's parking and an electric vehicle charger. It’s a 5 Star property, so it's well finished. Up to three dogs are welcome.
