Corn Stook
This is Corn Stook. It's a cottage on our farm, Granary Farm, up on the North York Moors. The place used to be a granary, hence the name. It's detached, so it's just you and the fields.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. You'll find it warm. There's a wood burner and we leave you some logs to start with.
Outside, there's a private patio with a barbecue. The garden is big and shared with the other cottages, but it never feels crowded. You get a good view south from here. The stars at night are really something, with no street lights around.
You can walk straight out from the door onto the moor or into the forest. The birds are good here, especially in the garden. If you drive a little way, there's a Raptor View Point for watching birds of prey.
The village of Sawdon is about a mile away for a pub. Shops are a bit further, in Brompton or Snainton. There's a very good butcher in Brompton.
For days out, Pickering is close. They have the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains. Scarborough and Whitby are about half an hour by car. York is a bit longer, maybe 45 minutes. Castle Howard is also within easy reach.
Included is all your bedding and towels. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside. We have a cot if you need it. No pets, sorry.
