Cow Pasture Cottage

The cottage is called Cow Pasture Cottage and it's in Ebberston. We're up a quiet lane, next to our house and a small caravan park. It's a detached cottage, so you're on your own.

It sleeps four people. There are two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom on the ground floor. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and comfortable without being posh. The stairs are quite narrow and steep, just so you know.

The village is small. There's a stream that runs through it. A pub is about five minutes walk away. The nearest shop is a mile away in Snainton, but you're better off going to Pickering for a bigger supermarket.

You're about half an hour from the coast. Scarborough is the closest. Filey and Whitby are a bit further but still easy to get to. Pickering is a ten minute drive. That's where you get the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam train to Grosmont and Whitby. It's worth doing.

Right at the top of the village, the lane turns into a track and goes straight into woodland. You can walk from the cottage into Dalby Forest without using the car. There are miles of paths for walking and mountain biking. You can hire bikes at the Dalby Forest Visitor Centre.

For facilities: there's a washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. You can park right outside. No pets allowed, I'm afraid.

If you want to look things up, the North York Moors National Park site is useful for walking routes. For the steam railway, it's North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
