Cherry Laurel
This is Cherry Laurel. It's a stone cottage in Thornton le Dale, built as part of a small group next to the main house. It sleeps two, one bedroom and one bathroom.
The living area is open plan. It has a wood burner, which I keep stocked with a basket of logs. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a TV and WiFi.
It's all on one level, which some people find useful. The shower is a walk-in type.
You have your own enclosed patio garden with a table and chairs. It looks over our main garden and you can hear the beck running past. There's a BBQ there you can use.
Thornton-le-Dale is a small village. There's a shop and a couple of pubs within a few minutes' walk. You can fish in the local beck.
It's a good spot for the North York Moors. Pickering is a mile away, where you can get the steam train to Whitby. The coast at Scarborough or Filey is about half an hour by car.
For planning days out, the North York Moors National Park site is useful, as is English Heritage, for places like Whitby Abbey.
You can bring one well-behaved dog. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need it, and space to store bikes.
