This is Farndale. It's one of eight cottages here at Hungate in Pickering. The owners, Mike and Sue, have been running this place for over thirty years. It's well looked after.
The cottage sleeps five. It's three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and has everything you need. It's not huge, but it's fine for a family. The gardens are the main thing here. They're shared with the other cottages, but there's plenty of space. They're very peaceful. There's a proper enclosed play area for kids with a swing and a little house.
You're about a five minute walk from the middle of Pickering. It's a nice market town. There's a castle, a few pubs, and the church has some old wall paintings. The swimming pool is just down the road. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway starts here, which is a steam train that goes up to Grosmont through the moors.
You're right on the edge of the North York Moors. For walking, you can just go straight out. Dalby Forest is about a fifteen minute drive for cycling and more trails. The coast is about forty minutes away if you want Whitby or Robin Hood's Bay. York is about forty minutes in the other direction.
In the cottage, there's a wood burner with free logs, which is good for cooler evenings. It's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside your door.
