This is Ellerbeck. It’s one of the cottages at Hungate in Pickering, not far from the town centre. You’re semi-detached, attached to one other cottage.
The cottage itself sleeps four. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It has a 4 Star rating, so it’s comfortable and well-equipped. It's been converted from old outbuildings so you get things like stone arches and beams.
The gardens here are the main thing. They're shared between all the cottages, but there's plenty of space. They're properly looked after and peaceful. There's a kids’ play area with a swing and a wendy house too.
In terms of practical stuff, it’s got a wood burner with logs provided, parking on site, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included.
From here, you can walk into Pickering in a few minutes. There are shops, pubs, a swimming pool, and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway station. The railway is a proper steam train that goes through the moors to Whitby.
A short drive gets you into the North York Moors National Park. Dalby Forest is about 15 minutes away for cycling and walking. The coast at Scarborough or Whitby is about 30 minutes. York is around 45 minutes’ drive if you want a city day.
Useful links if you're planning: North York Moors National Park, North Yorkshire Moors Railway, and English Heritage for places like Rievaulx Abbey.
No pets allowed, sorry.
