The Carrs

The Carrs is one of the cottages at Hungate in Pickering. It's a two-bedroom place, sleeps four. There are two bathrooms which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating.

It's in the middle of town but you come through a big black gate into the courtyard and it's quiet. The gardens are there for all the cottages to use. They're nice, well-kept. There's an enclosed play area with a swing and a little playhouse if you've got kids.

The cottage itself has things like beams and stone arches from the old building. It's warm and clean. There's a woodburning stove and they provide the logs, which is good. You've got a dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, all the things you need. Parking is right there.

Pickering is a proper market town. You can walk to the shops, pubs, and the castle. The swimming pool is about three minutes away. The big thing here is the North York Moors Railway steam trains. The station is in town. You can get a train to Grosmont through the moors.

For days out, you're right on the edge of the North York Moors. Dalby Forest is close for cycling and walking. The coast is about half an hour's drive. Whitby is great for fish and chips and the abbey. Robin Hood's Bay is that classic fishing village tumbling down the cliff. York is about 26 miles, so under an hour. You've got the Minster, the Railway Museum, all of it.

You can bring one dog. We provide bedsheets and towels. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
