Owl Cottage
Owl Cottage is on our farm in High Marishes, near Thornton-le-Dale. It's a one-bedroom barn conversion we did a few years back. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's semi-detached, but the other side is just storage, so it feels private.
It sleeps three, with a kingsize bed in the bedroom and a double sofa bed in the living area. There's one shower room. Everything's on the ground floor. The living space is open plan, with the kitchen, dining area, and sitting area all together. It gets good light.
Outside there's an enclosed patio with a table and chairs. You look out over our fields. We do see owls here at dusk. The night sky is very clear.
You're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and Dalby Forest is practically next door for walking and cycling. The village of Thornton-le-Dale is pretty and has a couple of shops.
Malton is about a 15 minute drive. It's got a lot of good food shops and cafes. For a day out, Castle Howard is maybe 25 minutes away. York is about 45 minutes. The coast, like Scarborough or Whitby, is roughly 40 minutes to an hour's drive.
The nearest shop is 4 miles away, and the closest pub is about 5 miles, so you'll likely drive most places. We're on a working beef farm, so you'll see tractors and livestock about.
In terms of what's here: there's parking right outside, the patio is enclosed, there's a BBQ, WiFi, a TV, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We don't allow pets.
