Lockton
This is Lockton. It's one of our cottages in Pickering. The whole place is off the main road, behind a big black gate. There are several cottages around shared gardens. You get your own private patio too, for sitting out.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating from VisitEngland. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped. Everything's clean and works.
The kitchen is open plan with the living area. There's a wood-burning stove. We leave some logs for you to start with. The stairs are cottage stairs, so take your time.
You're right in the town. The local shops, a few pubs, and Pickering Castle are a few minutes' walk. There's a swimming pool just up the road. For a big supermarket, you'd drive.
The main thing here is the location. You're at the edge of the North York Moors. For walking, you can start right from the door. The North York Moors National Park site has walking routes. Dalby Forest is about ten minutes away by car for cycling and trails.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway starts in Pickering. You can get the steam train to Grosmont or Whitby. That's a good day out. Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, and Scarborough are all within about half an hour's drive. York is about 45 minutes away.
Other places nearby: Castle Howard is maybe 20 minutes. The Rievaulx Abbey ruins are worth seeing.
In terms of stuff here: TV, WiFi, washing machine, dishwasher, highchair and cot if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside the cottage. You can bring one dog.
There are other families around in the other cottages. The gardens are shared, but there's plenty of space. There's a little play area with a swing and a den for kids.
