This is Hallgarth House. It's in Pickering, on the main street in a row of old houses. It's a big place, sleeps ten across five bedrooms, and has two bathrooms.
It's a listed building, built over two hundred years ago. It was the school headmaster's house originally. The windows are the original mullion type, so they're nice but they let in a bit of a draught in winter. The heating works well though, and there's a woodburning stove in the living room.
The house feels solid and old. It's not minimalist. It's furnished with a mix of old and newer things, and there are paintings on the walls. The stairs are typical for an old house, a bit uneven in places.
Pickering town centre is a five minute walk. Cobbled streets, a castle, a few pubs and shops. There's a pub about 150 yards away. The North York Moors are right on the doorstep for walking. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains start here in Pickering.
For a day out, Scarborough and Filey are about half an hour's drive to the coast. Whitby is a bit further, maybe 45 minutes. You've got the National Trust places like Nunnington Hall within reach too.
What's here: a fully enclosed garden at the back with a patio and a BBQ. Inside there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
