Hallgarth House is in Pickering. It's a big, old house that sleeps ten people. There are five bedrooms and two bathrooms.
It's listed, Grade II. It was built over two hundred years ago as the headmaster's house for the school. You can tell it's old, especially the windows. The rooms are large.
The town centre is a five minute walk. There's a shop about 200 yards away and a pub 150 yards. The local castle is worth a look. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway starts in Pickering, if you like steam trains.
For the coast, you can drive to Scarborough or Filey. Whitby is about 23 miles away, so maybe 45 minutes depending on the traffic.
You can walk to Dalby Forest from here, for biking or walking. It's part of the North York Moors National Park. The coast to coast cycle route goes through too.
Inside, it's furnished with some old and some newer furniture. There are pictures on the walls. There's a woodburning stove, a TV, and WiFi. The garden is enclosed. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
It has a 4 Star rating. It's clean and well looked after.
