Finlay's Cottage
This is Finlay's Cottage in Newbridge. It's on a quiet little close, just outside Pickering. You cross the railway line to get to it, so you will see the steam trains go by. You get a parking space right outside.
The garden is at the back and it's fenced in. It's not huge, but it's private and safe if you've got a dog or kids.
Inside, it's a proper family house. It sleeps six, with three bedrooms. There's a double and a twin on the first floor, and another double up on the second floor in the eaves. There's one bathroom with a walk-in shower. The stairs up to the top floor are a bit steeper, as you'd expect.
The kitchen has what you need: dishwasher, big fridge-freezer, washing machine. The lounge is separate with a sofa and an electric stove for atmosphere. We provide all bedding and towels.
You're less than a mile from Pickering town centre. It's a proper market town with shops, pubs, and the castle ruins. The North York Moors are right there. The North York Moors National Park website is good for walking ideas.
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains run right from Pickering to Whitby. It's a great day out. Dalby Forest is about a 20-minute drive for cycling and walking. Go Ape is there if you're feeling brave. Flamingo Land is very close too.
The coast is about half an hour's drive. You've got Scarborough, Filey, Whitby, and Robin Hood's Bay all within easy reach. York is under an hour if you fancy a city trip.
The place has a 4 Star rating. It's clean, comfortable, and everything works. We take up to two well-behaved dogs.
