Finlay's Cottage

Finlay's Cottage is in Newbridge, just outside Pickering. It's down a quiet cul-de-sac. You cross over the railway line to get to it.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one shower room. The shower is a good size, walk-in type. Two of the bedrooms are on the first floor, and the main double is up on the second floor. The stairs to the second floor are quite steep. From the double on the first floor, you get a view of the steam trains going past. There's a window seat to watch them from.

The kitchen is open plan with a dining area. It's got a dishwasher and a big fridge freezer. The lounge is separate, with an electric stove. There's a utility room with a washing machine and a separate downstairs toilet. The garden at the back is enclosed. You get one parking space right outside the front.

Pets are welcome, up to two.

Pickering centre is less than a mile away. It's a proper market town. There's a castle, shops, and places to eat. It's a good base for the North York Moors. The North York Moors National Park site has walking routes. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains go from Pickering to Whitby.

Dalby Forest is about a 15 minute drive. Good for walking and cycling. Go Ape is there if you want that. Flamingo Land theme park is maybe 10 minutes away.

The coast is half an hour or so. Scarborough, Filey, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay are all within about 30 to 45 minutes' drive. York is about 45 minutes away.

For facilities, it's all the usual things. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. WiFi and a TV. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after.
