Lilac Cottage is in Sinnington. It's a stone-built, semi-detached cottage that looks out onto the village green. You get your own enclosed garden, which is handy if you have dogs.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and comfortable but not a show home. The two cottages are connected by a door on the ground floor. If you know the people next door, you can open it up. If you don't, it stays locked.
There's a pub about 350 yards down the road. They do food. The village has a micro bakery too, and a stream runs through it. The nearest proper shop is about three miles away in Kirkbymoorside.
You can walk straight from the door into the North York Moors. For a day out, Pickering has the castle and the steam railway. Helmsley is close by for shops and cafes. The North York Moors National Park site is useful for planning walks.
The coast is within an hour's drive. Scarborough, Whitby, Filey. All the usual spots.
Inside, there's a woodburning stove, TV, washing machine, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
