Fox Cover Cottage is a converted barn on a small organic farm in Great Edstone. It's about a 10-minute drive from Helmsley.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms upstairs and three bathrooms, so one is on the ground floor. That one's a wet room. The stairs are original and steep, like most in these old barns.
The main room is open plan, with the kitchen, living area and a dining space. It's beamed throughout. There's a wood burner. The stable door opens out to an enclosed garden with a table and chairs, and a barbecue. The garden edges onto woodland.
On the farm itself, there's a shared indoor heated swimming pool, a hard tennis court, a small gym, and a children's play area. You can buy vegetables and soft fruit from the farm when they're in season.
You're on the edge of the North York Moors. Good walking starts from the door. The North York Moors National Park site has trail maps. The coast, like Whitby or Robin Hood's Bay, is about a 45-minute drive. The steam railway at Pickering or Goathland is a similar distance.
For local attractions, National Trust and English Heritage have good listings. Castle Howard is about half an hour away by car.
In terms of what's here: all bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. We can provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate. You can bring up to two dogs.
