Highfield Barn is in Pockley, just on the edge of the North York Moors. It's a converted barn, so it's detached and quiet.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. It's stone floors inside, and there's a wood burner for cooler evenings.
Now, the stairs. They're a spiral staircase. They're steep and a bit narrow, as you'd expect in a barn. Just watch your step.
There's a fish and chip shop and an Indian restaurant you can walk to. A good farm shop and tearoom is in Beadlam, the next village along. The nearest pub is about two miles away.
Helmsley is the main town, about four miles. It's a nice market town with proper shops, cafes, a castle, and the walled garden. The North York Moors National Park is right there for walking.
You can be in Pickering in about twenty minutes to get the steam train to Whitby. The coast at Scarborough or Robin Hood's Bay is about half an hour's drive. York is less than an hour if you fancy a city day.
It's got a TV, Wi-Fi, a washing machine, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. No pets.
For planning, the National Trust Yorkshire page is useful for places like Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx.
